Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal

Moss looks unsightly, blocks gutters and holds damp against your tiles. We remove it by hand and soft-wash the roof to protect the tiles and restore its appearance — across Northampton and Northamptonshire.

What's Included

  • Manual moss removal from tiles and slates
  • Soft-wash biocide treatment to kill algae, lichen and moss
  • Gutters and downpipes cleared of dislodged moss and debris
  • Ridge and flashing checked while we're up there
  • Careful, low-pressure methods that protect the tiles
  • Long-lasting treatment that slows regrowth

Soft-wash, not jet-wash

High-pressure jet washing can strip the protective surface off tiles and drive water underneath them. We remove moss carefully by hand and use a soft-wash biocide that keeps working after we've left — protecting your roof while it clears the growth.

Roof Cleaning FAQs

Should I clear moss off my roof and does moss damage tiles? +
Moss holds moisture against the tiles and breaks off to block gutters and downpipes, which can lead to overflow and damp. On ageing or porous tiles that trapped water can worsen frost damage. Clearing moss and treating the roof protects the tiles, keeps the gutters flowing and tidies the roof's appearance.
How much does roof cleaning cost? +
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, how much moss and growth there is and the access needed. We look at the roof, explain what's involved and give you a fixed written quote before starting — no obligation.
Will roof cleaning damage my tiles? +
We use careful manual moss removal and a soft-wash biocide treatment rather than aggressive high-pressure jet washing, which can strip the surface off tiles and force water under them. The soft-wash approach protects the tiles while clearing moss, algae and lichen.
How often should a roof be cleaned? +
There's no fixed schedule — it depends on how shaded and tree-lined your property is. Many homes benefit from a clean and biocide treatment every few years, and a treatment continues to work for a good while after, slowing regrowth.
