Rendering & Roughcasting

A good render coat weatherproofs your walls and transforms the look of your home. As a roofing and rendering contractor, we apply traditional roughcast and modern render finishes across Northampton and Northamptonshire.

What's Included

  • Traditional roughcast (pebbledash) finishes
  • Sand-and-cement render, smooth or textured
  • Modern through-coloured and silicone renders
  • Re-rendering of tired or failing walls
  • Cracked and 'blown' render cut out and patched
  • Full elevations, extensions and new builds
  • Preparation, beading and painting where required

Traditional or modern

Roughcast and pebbledash are the traditional Midlands finishes — extremely hard-wearing and low maintenance. Modern through-coloured silicone renders give a clean, crack-resistant, self-cleaning finish in a wide choice of colours. Whichever look you're after, we'll prepare the wall properly so the finish lasts.

Rendering FAQs

What is roughcasting and how is it different from rendering? +
Render is a smooth or textured coat of mortar applied to a wall, while roughcast (sometimes called pebbledash) is a render coat with aggregate such as small stones thrown into it for a hard-wearing, textured finish. Both weatherproof and protect the wall — roughcast is especially durable, while modern smooth renders give a cleaner, contemporary look.
Can you repair cracked or blown render? +
Yes. Where render has cracked, hollowed or 'blown' (come away from the wall) we can cut out and patch the affected areas or, if it's failing widely, hack it off and re-render. We'll advise at survey whether a repair or a full re-render is the better value.
How long does render take to dry and cure? +
Render needs dry, frost-free conditions to cure properly. Traditional sand-and-cement render is usually touch-dry within a day or two but continues curing for several weeks, while through-coloured silicone renders set faster. We plan the work around a suitable weather window so the finish lasts.
Do you offer free quotes and site surveys? +
Yes — we survey the walls, discuss the finish and colour you want, and give you a clear, obligation-free written quote before any work starts.
