Chimney Repairs Northampton

A neglected chimney is one of the most common causes of a leaking roof. We repoint, rebuild, re-flaunch and re-lead chimney stacks across Northampton and Northamptonshire to keep them sound and watertight.

What We Do

  • Chimney repointing and brickwork repairs
  • Partial and full chimney rebuilds
  • Re-flaunching (the mortar bed around the pots)
  • New chimney pots, cowls and bird guards
  • Lead flashing repaired or fully renewed
  • Chimney removal and roof making-good where no longer used
  • Waterproofing and damp-proofing treatments

Catch it early

Damp on a chimney breast, staining on the ceiling below, or crumbling mortar high on the stack are all early warnings. Dealt with promptly, a chimney is a straightforward repair; left too long, water gets into the brickwork and the timbers below and the job grows. If in doubt, we'll take a look free of charge.

Chimney Repair FAQs

How do I know if my chimney needs repointing? +
Look for crumbling, cracked or missing mortar between the bricks, loose or spalling brickwork, and damp patches on the chimney breast or ceiling below. Failing pointing lets water into the stack, so it's worth dealing with before it causes internal damp or the brickwork starts to move.
What is leadwork and where is it used on a roof? +
Leadwork — the lead flashing, soakers and aprons around a chimney, in valleys and against walls — is what seals the joints where a roof meets something it can't tile over. Around chimneys it's one of the most common places for leaks, and renewing tired or cracked lead flashing often cures a stubborn chimney leak.
How much does chimney repair cost? +
It depends entirely on the work — repointing and re-flaunching a stack is a modest job, while a partial or full rebuild with new pots, cowls and flashing costs more, and access affects the price too. We survey the chimney and give you a clear written quote before any work begins.
Do I need scaffolding for chimney work? +
Chimney work is high up and usually needs proper scaffold access to be done safely and to a good standard. We're work-at-height trained and include any access required in your written quote, so there are no surprises.
